We are checking the up-to-date details of the Research Briefing: Education (Careers Guidance in Schools) Bill, which was published by the House of Commons Library today. The Bill would have effect in England only. The explanatory notes set out the intention that the changes would come into effect on 1 September 2022. The Second Reading of the Bill is scheduled to take place in the House of Commons on 10 September 2021. Careerstorch would support the recommendations to provide careers education to all year groups in secondary school. The requirement of all state-funded schools in England, including academics, to be bound by the new legislation would also be a positive step in ensuring high quality careers education across the secondary sector.
